Equipment hire FAQs
Common questions about licences, bonds, kilometres, prohibited use and how Machinery Hire Network bookings work.
What licence do I need?
The Hino 300 tipper is driven on a standard Class C car licence (GVM 4,495 kg). The excavator doesn't need a special licence; if you're collecting it yourself, your tow vehicle must be rated to tow its trailer and fitted with an electric brake controller.
Is there a minimum driver age?
Yes. Drivers of the Hino tipper must be at least 25. Other minimum-age or licence-history conditions may apply under our insurance.
Is a security bond required?
Yes. Machinery hire requires a security pre-authorisation on a card before release, confirmed with your quote. It isn't an extra hire charge — it's a temporary hold, released after the equipment is returned and inspected, less any applicable charges.
How much does equipment hire cost?
Hire is priced per job. Both machines are available on daily, multi-day and weekend hire (the weekend package runs Friday afternoon to Monday morning). Send us your dates and what you are doing and we will come back with a firm price, including pickup or delivery.
Are kilometres included?
Hino tipper: 100 km/day included, 200 km on the weekend package. Excavator: 8 machine hours/day (16 on the weekend package), plus a 100 km towing allowance. Beyond those allowances a per-km or per-hour rate applies, confirmed on your quote.
Does the vehicle need to be returned with fuel?
Yes, return full. If it comes back below full, fuel is charged at the actual replacement cost plus a refuelling surcharge, confirmed with your quote.
Can I transport asbestos?
Not without written approval. Asbestos, contaminated waste, hazardous materials and prohibited substances must not be transported unless specifically authorised and all legal requirements are met.
Can I take the truck off-road?
Only approved use is permitted. Beach driving, four-wheel-drive tracks, unsuitable worksites and other restricted use may be prohibited.
What happens if the equipment is damaged?
The hirer is responsible for damage, loss and associated costs during the hire period, subject to the hire agreement and applicable insurance conditions.
Can I book instantly?
No. Bookings are request-based. Machinery Hire Network confirms availability, eligibility, pricing and hire conditions before approval.
Do you offer delivery?
Yes. Delivery and collection are priced by distance from the Cessnock depot and quoted with your hire — just tell us the job address. Collecting from the depot yourself avoids the delivery charge.
Are tolls and fines included?
No. Tolls, parking charges, traffic infringements and similar costs are the responsibility of the hirer.
Can I extend my hire?
Extensions must be approved before the original return time and are subject to availability.
Can another person drive the equipment?
Only approved and listed drivers may operate the equipment.
Ask us before you book, not after.
If your question isn't answered here, call or send an enquiry — we'd rather sort it out up front than have you turn up to the wrong machine.
Still have a question?
Send an enquiry and Machinery Hire Network will get back to you with the detail you need.
